Silvercrest’s Portfolio Management Team is one of the most experienced group of managers in the industry – the senior members of the group have worked together for more than 10 years and have been, on average, in the wealth management business for more than 25 years. These individuals are responsible for helping Silvercrest’s clients identify their investment goals and then developing an investment plan designed to achieve them. They are motivated entirely by a desire to design and implement a plan which accomplishes the client’s objectives and they function as the client’s guide and advisor in managing the client’s relationship with the firm.

Matthew Arpano joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios and is a member of the firm’s Fixed Income Investment Policy Committee. Previously, Mr. Arpano was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management group in New York, where he served in a similar capacity. He began his investment career in 1992 at Morgan Stanley. Mr. Arpano earned an M.B.A. from the University of Miami in 1992. He was graduated summa cum laude from the University of Rhode Island, where he was an economics major and an Academic All-American baseball player. Mr. Arpano serves on the Board of Directors for the University of Miami Alumni Association. He is also a member of the Economics Club of New York.

  Russell J. Bell, CPA, joined Silvercrest as a Managing Director as a result of Heritage Financial Management's merger into Silvercrest Asset Management. He was a founding partner of Heritage Financial Management where he was in charge of family office operations and the back office functions for Heritage’s investment operations. Mr. Bell has been involved in providing comprehensive wealth management services for individuals and families for more than 15 years. He has over 25 years of experience in accounting and finance as an auditor, including positions at Price Waterhouse in Perth, Western Australia, and New York, and as chief accounting officer of a public company. Mr. Bell earned a Bachelor of Business degree with an accounting major at Edith Cowen University in Perth.

James F. Bleakley, Jr., CFA, joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Bleakley was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), where he was the Chairman and CEO of Winthrop Trust Company, CSAM’s trust affiliate. He arrived at CSAM as a result of that firm’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where he had worked since 1989. Previously, he spent 23 years as a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager with First Kentucky Trust Company and its investment advisory subsidiary, First Kentucky Company. Mr. Bleakley holds a B.S.C. in Finance from the University of Louisville.

Jeremiah M. Bogert joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed-income portfolios as a result of Silvercrest’s merger in 2004 with James C. Edwards Asset Management, where he served as Chairman and CEO for the past ten years. Prior to joining Edwards as a portfolio manager in 1982, Mr. Bogert was President of Bishop’s Service, a business information company which he and a group of venture investors purchased in 1968. Mr. Bogert holds a B.A. from Yale University and M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.

Benjamin Brewster joined Silvercrest as a Managing Director as a result of Heritage Financial Management's merger into Silvercrest Asset Management. He was a founding partner of Heritage Financial Management where he was in charge of investments. Mr. Brewster managed Heritage's in-house value appraisal products and directed the firm's outside managed marketable securities, as well as its alternative investment partnerships. Mr. Brewster began his investment career in 1971 as a research analyst and portfolio manager at Stone & Webster Securities and was later the Director of Pension Assets at Stone & Webster Inc. Mr. Brewster holds a BA in History from the University of the South.

Cameron H. Burns joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios and is a member of the firm’s Investment Policy and Strategy Committee. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Burns had worked since 1990 in Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management Division where he was an Executive Director and served in a similar capacity. Previously, he worked at Lloyds Bank Plc as lending officer in their Corporate International Banking Division. Mr. Burns was born and raised on a fourth generation cattle ranch near Big Timber, Montana. He earned a B.A. in Economics from Williams College in 1985 and an MBA in Finance from The Wharton School in 1990.

G. David Hamar, Jr., J.D., CPA, joined Silvercrest as a Managing Director as a result of Heritage Financial Management's merger into Silvercrest Asset Management. Mr. Hamar previously served as President and Managing Director of Hamar Capital, Limited which merged with Heritage Financial Management in January 2001. Mr. Hamar was also associated with the tax department of Price Waterhouse in Norfolk, Virginia, and was a practicing tax associate with major law firms in New York, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. Mr. Hamar is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D.) and Old Dominion University (B.S. Business Administration).

Linda M. Hartley, CFP, is a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest, Ms. Hartley was a Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), where she served in a similar capacity. She arrived at CSAM as a result of that firm’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where she had worked since 1981. Previously, she was a tax and financial planner for individuals at PaineWebber Mitchell Hutchins and a trust and estates administrator with the law firm of Chadbourne & Parke. Ms. Hartley holds a B.S. in Education from the University of Colorado. She is a Certified Financial Planner™ and past-President and Chair of the New York chapter of the Financial Planning Association.

Robert F. Hill joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Senior Vice President and client service representative. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Hill was a Vice President and Director of James C. Edwards Asset Management for more than 25 years. Mr. Hill holds a B.A. from Hobart College.


Cathy A. Jameson joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios in addition to serving as Chair of the firm’s Fixed Income Investment Policy Committee. Prior to Silvercrest, Ms. Jameson was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM) where she managed equity and fixed income portfolios. She arrived at CSAM as a result of that firm’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where she had worked since 1978 as a Senior Portfolio Manager and Director of Fixed Income investments. Previously, she worked for the American Field Service. Ms. Jameson holds a B.A. in Latin American Area Studies from Denison University. She is fluent in Portuguese.

Bart A. Johnston is a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed-income portfolios. He arrived at Silvercrest as a result of the firm’s merger with James C. Edwards Asset Management where he had worked since 1997. Bart was a Vice President and Director at JCE in charge of portfolio management, marketing and technology. Previously he spent 5 years as a Director of Met Investment Services, the institutional money management arm of MetLife. Mr. Johnston has a B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Vermont, as well as an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Columbia Business School.

Allen J. Laufer, CPA, is a Managing Director and director of financial planning. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Laufer was a Vice President at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), where he served in a similar capacity. He arrived at CSAM as a result of that firm’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where he had worked since 1997. Previously, he was a senior manager both at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young. Mr. Laufer holds a B.S. in Accounting from New York University and an M.S. in Taxation from Baruch College, City University of New York.

David B. MacNeil, joined Silvercrest Asset Management group as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed-income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. MacNeil was President of James C. Edwards Asset Management where he had served as an officer and director for more than 25 years. Mr. MacNeil holds a B.A. from Princeton University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Sally H. Megear is a Senior Vice President and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest Ms. Megear was a Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management. She arrived at Credit Suisse as a result of the Warburg Pincus merger, where she worked since 1976 as a portfolio manager. Before joining Silvercrest Ms. Megear spent one year at the investment firm of H.A. Schupf & Co. Ms. Megear received a BA in English and art history from the University of New Hampshire.

Albert S. Messina joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Messina was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), where he served in a similar capacity. He arrived at CSAM as a result of that firm’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where he had worked since 1983. Previously, he spent 14 years with Bankers Trust Company, where he advised private clients and oversaw the fiduciary department’s Tax Services Division. Mr. Messina holds a B.A. in Economics from Brooklyn College.

Kimberly L. Murdolo is a Vice President and client service representative. Prior to Silvercrest, Ms. Murdolo was a portfolio administrator at Credit Suisse Asset Management, where she served in a similar capacity. She arrived at Credit Suisse as a result of that firm’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where she had worked since 1998. Previously, she was a margin associate at the Pershing Division of DLJ. Ms. Murdolo holds a B.S. in Finance from Bentley College.

Stanley A. Nabi, CFA joined Silvercrest Asset Management as Vice Chairman and functions as the firm’s chief strategist. Mr. Nabi joined Silvercrest from Credit Suisse Asset Management where he headed their $5-billion value equity team. He arrived at Credit Suisse as a result of that firm’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where he served as Vice Chairman. Previously, Mr. Nabi was Director of Equity Research and Chief Investment Strategist at Bessemer Trust. He had been a General Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Lazard Fréres. Mr. Nabi has served as President and Director of the New York Society of Securities Analysts, Director of the Financial Analysts Federation (now AIMR), Associate Editor of Financial Analysts Journal, investment advisor to the National Bureau of Economic Research, and Adjunct Professor of finance and investments at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Busine ss. He is presently a consultant to the United States Steel and Carnegie Pension Fund as well as a Chartered Financial Analyst. Mr. Nabi is a graduate of Columbia University and did his doctorate work in economics at NYU.

Stanley H. Reese, CFA, joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and as Chairman of the firm's Investment Strategy Committee. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Reese was the Managing Director in charge of Scudder's $14 billion Private Investment Counsel business until Scudder's sale to Deutsche Bank in the Spring of 2002. Mr. Reese joined Scudder in 1980 and served as an investment consultant, portfolio manager and member of the firm's Investment Committee before assuming management responsibility for the private client group in 1999. Mr. Reese received his B.S. from the University of Amsterdam (he is a native of Holland) and his MBA from Columbia University.

Ian W. Smith is a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Smith was a Vice President at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), where he managed accounts specializing in global asset allocation. He arrived at CSAM as a result of that firm’s merger with Warburg, Pincus Asset Management where he had worked since 1997. Previously, he worked in institutional client services within the international equity group at Scudder, Stevens & Clark. Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Business Management from the University of Southern California. He is a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and NYSSA’s Private Wealth Management Committee.

Christopher M. Turner joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Turner was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse Asset Management (CSAM), where he served in a similar capacity. He arrived at CSAM as a result of that firm’s merger with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (DLJ), where he had worked since 1992. Previously, he was a portfolio manager at the Bessemer Trust Companies in New York and Miami. Mr. Turner holds a B.A. in History from Boston College and an MBA in Finance from Rutgers University.

Norbert J. Vonnegut joined Silvercrest Asset Management as a Managing Director and portfolio manager of equity and fixed income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Vonnegut was an Executive Director at Morgan Stanley’s Private Wealth Management division, where he worked in a similar capacity since 1996. Previously, he worked for Paine Webber as well as Chase Manhattan in Melbourne, Australia. He also ran a distribution business in Charleston, South Carolina, his childhood home. Mr. Vonnegut was graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1980 and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1986.

Carter V. Whisnand is a Vice President and an Assistant Portfolio Manager of equity and fixed income portfolios. Prior to Silvercrest, Mr. Whisnand managed client relationships and portfolios in the Private Client Groups of Morgan Stanley and Banc of America Securities. Previously, Mr. Whisnand was a senior marketing manager in San Francisco. Mr. Whisnand holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from The Darden School at the University of Virginia.
