John Potter, CFA is a Senior Advisor. He joined Silvercrest in 2019 as a result of Silvercrest’s acquisition of Cortina Asset Management, where he was a founding principal. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the investment industry. Prior to being a Senior Advisor, he was a portfolio manager for the Silvercrest U.S. Small Cap Opportunity and U.S. Focused Opportunity strategies. Mr. Potter began his investment career at M&I Investment Management Corp., now known as Columbia Threadneedle Investments, as a securities analyst and then mid-cap value fund manager. In 2000, he joined Firstar Investment Research & Management Co., now known as Nuveen Asset Management, where he managed small cap core portfolios. He has served as a board member for the Milwaukee Investment Analyst Society and Cortina Asset Management’s Board of Managers. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute. Mr. Potter received a BBA from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
